Evacuation starts YPG/SDF from Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood
According to official accounts, following approval of the evacuation process, the fighters were transported out of the area in organized convoys consisting of buses and ambulances. Reports added that an additional group previously positioned at Yasin Hospital within Sheikh Maqsoud was later moved as part of the same operation.
Security sources cited in reports indicated that these groups represent the final YPG/SDF presence in the city, marking the end of their deployment in Aleppo.
Following the evacuations, both the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods have reportedly been cleared of YPG/SDF elements and are now under the control of Syrian Army forces.
The evacuated militants are being transferred to the town of Tabqa, located on the western bank of the Euphrates River, an area that remains under YPG/SDF control.
Earlier, the army had announced that all military activity in Sheikh Maqsoud was suspended as of 3 p.m. local time on Friday, paving the way for the evacuation process.
The withdrawal follows days of escalation, during which the YPG/SDF reportedly targeted residential areas, civilian infrastructure, and Syrian Army positions across Aleppo. The shelling resulted in 23 fatalities and left more than 100 people injured, while also forcing approximately 165,000 residents of the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts to flee their homes.
