Final YPG/SDF Units Evacuated from Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud
The news agency reported that once the evacuation was agreed upon, the militants were transported in a convoy consisting of buses and ambulances. A separate group stationed at Yasin Hospital in Sheikh Maqsoud was also relocated to the same destination.
Citing security sources, Syria’s state television confirmed that these were the final YPG/SDF elements to depart Aleppo. It added that both Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods are now cleared of YPG/SDF presence and under Syrian Army control.
The militants are being transferred to Tabqa, a town situated on the western bank of the Euphrates River, within territory controlled by YPG/SDF forces.
The Syrian Army had earlier announced that all military operations in Sheikh Maqsoud were suspended as of 3 p.m. local time on Friday.
Since Tuesday, YPG/SDF forces had launched shelling attacks on residential areas, civilian infrastructure, and Syrian Army positions in Aleppo. These assaults resulted in 23 fatalities, more than 100 injuries, and the displacement of approximately 165,000 residents from the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods.
